I would like to take this opportunity to thank all my students and their parents/guardians for all the support you've shown during the first few months of this school year-time is really flying by. Today, we practiced our liturgy with our Little Buddies, then we worked on making prayers for the intercom ( our classroom will be doing these from Oct. 23 to Nov. 3). Next, we did our in class Moments and Memory Presentations; I'm proud of how well done they were. Finally, we were able to complete the last portion of the CAT4 tests; the students worked really hard and followed all the rules of how to correctly do these tests-Bravo mes amis! Today, I have sent home the Bible Verse notebook with the rubric attached to the inside of their book. On Fresh Grade, I will also be posting their overall mark for Bible Verses from Sept. 17-Oct.17, as well as the unit average for Module 1 (patterns) in Math. If you click on the word More by the title of the work, you can see the objectives, and sometimes there is a blank rubric attached to show what was assessed. If it is possible, could you send a pair of headphones for your child, as we will be doing more listening based activities in French and English for the remainder of the year. No problem if you can't, I have about 12 pair that we can share, and I will pick up a few more in the coming weeks. If technology is not working at home, like you can't sign into Portal, or can't access Word, or One-note, just let me know; I have told students that they are to write out their assignments if need be. Today, we practiced our All Saints/All Souls Liturgy with our Little Buddies; this will take place on Thursday, Nov. 2 @ 9:30 in the gym for anyone wanting to attend. We also worked on making a Flipgrid to share with our Little Buddies during Education week. Please check your child's Fresh Grade, as they uploaded their Module 1 Math exam and rubric ( this is also coming home as a hard copy to be signed), plus they were to have made a short comment/reflection on their work using an I Can statement on Fresh Grade. This afternoon, I gave students time to work on their Moments and Memories projects, which are due this Friday. If they were unable to finish doing a Flipgrid for their presentation, they will only have one more half hour at school tomorrow to do so, then it's homework. If technology doesn't work at home, students simply are to bring their props on Friday and do a "live" presentation in front of the class on Friday. We also completed the Writing Section of the CAT4 exams.
Homework:
Today, students wrote their unit one math exam, had a presentation in our class on Self-Regulation by Mme Strueby, our school counselor, and attended a school wide assembly about Education Week and Matrix expectations. Students also used their OneNote classroom tool to start planning for their "Moments and Memories" presentations. We will do our Bible verse and start our CAT 4 testing tomorrow, as it was a very busy day today.
Homework:
Our Education Week theme is "Building Our Future by Learning Together". We all know that an important part of learning is making sure that we have the proper nutrition. Please consider helping out our Food Drive so that we can make the future brighter for other boys and girls who may not have what we have.
Please take a look at the "Most Wanted" List below and think about how you can help us out.
Today, students had a chance to attend a presentation in the gym by "Frisbee Rob", and in the afternoon they got a chance to do an active workshop with Rob. If students want to take the challenge he spoke of in the presentation (ask your child about this), they can go to www.unpluggd.ca after they have done the challenge (it involves no electronics or t.v. for a day!!) This morning the students created a Wordcloud in French that focused on Le passé composé (see the attachment). We also learned how to look up verbs in Le passé composé on the Word Reference site, and we tried 2 questions about this using Kahoot; it was a busy period of French!! Please remind your child to get their pita order in by this Friday for the Pledge for Peace morning on Nov. 6.

Mme Fischer Today, our school celebrated Orange Shirt Day with a liturgy in the morning centered on Chaque enfant compte/Every Child Matters. Next, we worked with our Little Buddies to replicate a beautiful "Truth and Reconciliation" stained glass window in remebrance of all students that attended Residential Schools. This afternoon, Mrs. Strueby, our school Guidance Counselor, stopped by our class to talk about how to recognize anxiety and what we can do to help switch our brain from the "Red Zone", to the "Green zone," when feeling anxious,( ask your child what they learned from this presentation.) Homework for tomorrow:
Today, students had their pictures taken and got an "extra recess" for our Terry Fox fundraiser. We also had Mr. Coté, our school division technology supervisor, stop by and show the students how I used a program called OneNote, to create an online filing system, or a binder online, to help organize and work on the documents I share with them; they did a great job listening and testing it out to see how it works.
Speaking of technology, I sent all parents an email invite to be able to access Fresh Grade, your child's online portfolio. So far students have a few things uploaded, and one assignment marked, two documents that will be graded, and a few other uploads. Only parents, the student and teacher have access to these portfolios. If there is another email address you would like me to include, please let me know. Homework:
